Why CIES ?"The annual CIES conference creates a social space where human beings from many different parts of the world connect on topics on topics of mutual interest and learn from one another (even from those [with whom]they may strongly disagree). The greatest value of being a member of this society has from my interactions with people who have different frames reference and different realities." (Maria Fatima Rodrigues, 1999) "For more than a half century the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) has been my professional "home from the sea and home from the hill." To be sure, I have worked in many places - universities, states, countries - but year after year the Society has enriched my professional career in a truly special and unique way as an intellectual home."
